A man has been charged with murder over the death of a five-year-old boy in Rotorua earlier this month.

The boy, who has been named as Ferro-James Tiopira Sio, died in hospital 10 days ago.
The 24-year-old man previously charged with assault of a child has now been charged with murder.
A 28-year-old woman has been charged with ill treatment and neglect of a child.
Both are due to appear in Rotorua District Court next week.
