Some New Zealanders stranded in India and Philippines since the Covid-19 outbreak will return home on repatriation flights in the next week or so.
The government is expecting to run several repatriation flights from India, because of strong interest from New Zealanders stuck there.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade says the charter flights, at least one of which will leave from Delhi, will probably depart in about a week's time.
About 1900 New Zealanders are registered as being in India, but the ministry has not said how many have expressed interest in leaving this way.
It said there had also been a lot of interest in a flight out of the Philippines, where 400 New Zealanders were known to be.
That flight will depart in the coming days.
