A homicide investigation has been launched after the death of a man at a rural property in West Auckland.

Police said they were called to a house on Trig Road in Whenuapai just before 2am this morning.
Detective Inspector Aaron Proctor, of Waitematā Police, said when officers arrived, they tried to help the injured man, but he died at the scene.
"Our investigation is working to establish the full set of circumstances around this man's death."
A scene examination is underway and the property is being guarded by the police.
People who were at the house were being spoken to by detectives.
Police said a post-mortem and formal identification would take place in due course.
They are appealing to anyone who may have information that may help officers with their investigation to come forward.
