More than 3000 nurses and administration staff will be on strike for 24 hours on Monday.

Chris Wilson from the Nurses Organisation says staff will hold midday rallies as part of the strike.

She said staff were walking off the job to protest against stalled progress on negotiations.

Primary health care nurses were paid about 10 percent less than DHB staff, and some medical receptionists did not earn a living wage, Wilson said.

Another 24 hour strike is planned for 23 November.
