Fire crews are still battling a blaze on Bay of Plenty's Matakana Island a week after it started.
The fire originally started last Sunday but flared up again yesterday after it broke the fire break and started to spread.
Fire and Emergency Shift manager Craig Dalley said three fire crews and two helicopters were on the island.
He said the fire wasn't yet under control and crews would remain on the island overnight.
It was expected crews would be on the island for several days.
Matakana Island sits 2km off the coast of Tauranga and is 20km long.
