One person has been airlifted to hospital in a serious condition after a crash near Waitōtara in South Taranaki on State Highway 3.

A cattle truck rolled across the road and blocked the highway.
The accident was reported at 9am and emergency services were still at the scene this afternoon.
In an update about 2.30pm, police said the road had reopened.
It is understood several animals have also been hurt and power is out to about 190 customers.
