A person has been killed in an accident involving the Capital Connection commuter train from Palmerston North to Wellington.
Emergency services were called to the scene in Longburn, south-west of Palmerston North, at 6.40am on Thursday.
KiwiRail said buses were replacing the service from the Shannon, Levin, and Ōtaki stops.
The train , which was carrying about 65 people, was to continue from Longburn once released by police.
There may be some additional delays to freight services out of Palmerston North.
