A man charged with assaulting a woman in her 90s and her son in Napier has been remanded in custody.

Police were called to the assault in Kennedy Rd on Sunday morning.
The victims were both seriously injured and remain in hospital in a stable condition.
Police charged a 25-year-old Wairoa man with attempt to cause grievous bodily harm after the assault.
He appeared in Hastings District Court today.
He was granted name suppression and did not make a plea.
He will appear in the Napier District Court next month.
