The new case arrived from the Philippines via Singapore and tested positive during a routine day-three test.

In a statement this afternoon, the Ministry of Health also confirmed there were no new community cases.

The Ministry said three previously reported cases had now recovered.

The number of active cases in New Zealand stands at 36.

Since 1 January 2021, there have been 82 historical cases, out of a total of 586 cases, the statement said.

The seven-day rolling average of new cases detected at the border is two and the total number of confirmed cases is 2402.

Meanwhile, more than 100 security roles at managed isolation and quarantine facilities remain vacant, after a privacy breach last year prompted the government to move to direct employment.

The MBE began advertising the jobs in April, eight months after it announced the change and said hiring would be completed by July.

Only 48 of the 156 advertised roles for security staff have so far been filled, despite 632 applications.

Meanwhile, a legal challenge against the country's alert level three and four Covid-19 lockdowns is to be heard in the Court of Appeal today.
