A man in his 20s has pleaded not guilty to raping an elderly woman and assaulting her son in Napier.

The man, whose name is suppressed, appeared at the Napier District Court today.
In June, police allege the man assaulted the duo at a Kennedy Rd home, leaving them with injuries that had to be treated in hospital.
The man is facing eight charges, including committing burglary with a weapon, unlawful sexual connection and raping a female.
He elected trial by jury.
He is due to reappear in the district court for a case review hearing in October.
