A police officer who was jailed for raping his colleague while she slept has failed in his bid to take his case to the Supreme Court.
Jamie Anthony Foster was sentenced to six years in prison, after he was convicted of sexual violation and indecent assault over the incident in Kerikeri in February 2019.
Both assaults occurred on a night of drinking among officers who had been sent to Northland to work over the Waitangi Day commemorations.
Foster went to trial in the Auckland District Court in March last year and the jury returned guilty verdicts on the two charges he faced.
He [ appealed his convictions to the Court of Appeal, but it was dismissed earlier this year.
Foster then sought leave to take his case to the country's highest court, but the Supreme Court has dismissed that too.
