A staff member at a Tauranga retirement village has tested positive for Covid-19.
According to an email sent out to residents, a staff member in the Bob Owens Retirement Village hospital unit received a positive rapid antigen test for Covid-19 yesterday morning.
A nasal swab result is still being processed.
Ryman Healthcare, which operates the village, told residents the staff member is fully vaccinated and has received her booster shot.
She last worked on New Year's Day, where she worked closely with a small number of residents in the hospital.
The residents she had contact with are fully vaccinated.
The worker was wearing a N95 mask along with a faceshield throughout her shift.
Thirty nine residents are being tested for Covid-19 as a result of the case.
All other staff and residents have returned negative rapid antigen tests so far. Nasal swab tests are also being processed.
