A homicide investigation has been launched in the Coromandel this afternoon after a 43-year-old man was found dead.
Detective Inspector Graham Pitkethley said in a statement that police arrived at a rural property in Manaia at 12:30pm to find one man dead and another critically injured.
He said they are not seeking anyone else in relation to the incident.
Pitkethley said a scene examination is expected to last several days to establish what exactly has occured.
