A man has died after getting into trouble at Piha beach west of Auckland this morning.

Emergency services were alerted that a person was in difficulty in the water off Marine Parade South at 8.15am.
Police confirmed he died at the scene.
A spokesperson said in a statement that police would be making inquiries on behalf of the coroner.
