Police in Northland Police want to speak to the driver of a vehicle at the scene of a serious crash on State Highway 1 south of Whangārei yesterday.
Two cars collided at the Totara Rd intersection in Mata just after 5.30pm on Saturday, leaving two people seriously injured.
Officers would like to speak to the driver of an older-style, white Mitsubishi ute with a white canopy, believed to be heading south from the crash site at the time.
At least two people are understood to be seriously injured, while there are a number of other people involved.
The Serious Crash Unit was advised.
The road was completely blocked while emergency services attend the scene last night.
Northbound traffic was diverted onto Salmon Rd, while southbound traffic is being diverted onto Springfield Rd.
