The machine was taken from the Meeanee Hotel on the outskirts of the city on 31 May and found two days later on 2 June, minus cash.
The 32-year-old man was due to appear in the Hastings District Court today charged with burglary and unlawfully taking a motor vehicle which was used in the burglary.
A 27-year-old woman has been charged with being an accessory after the fact.
Acting Detective Sergeant Scott Saurin said: "Although no cash was recovered from this burglary, it is very satisfying for the team to be able to make an arrest in this case."
