One person has died and two people are seriously injured after a crash on State Highway 5, Tarawera.

The crash happened about 11.45am and initial indications suggested that three vehicles were involved.
Police said the two injured people were flown to hospital.
The road is closed and motorists are asked to avoid the area.
The Serious Crash Unit has been advised.
