Covid-19 update: 4818 new community cases, 571 hospitalisations

There are 4818 new cases of Covid-19 in the community today, the Ministry of Health says.

In today's statement, the ministry said there were 571 people in hospital with the virus, including 13 people in ICU.

The average age of current hospitalisations is 62.

The seven-day rolling case average has dropped to 4750; the average at this time last week was 6142.

There is a total of 1726 deaths confirmed as attributable to Covid-19, either as the underlying cause of death or as a contributing factor. The seven-day rolling average increase in total deaths attributable to Covid-19 is 12.

Yesterday, there were 5169 Covid-19 cases reported in the community.
