One person has been taken into custody after reports of concern for a person at a property in Gisborne.
It was believed that person may have had access to firearms, police said.
One person was taken into custody and will be referred to healthcare services.
Residents were asked to avoid the Lytton Rd area as police responded to the incident on Monday evening.
In an update just before 10pm, police said the cordons had been stood down.
