Searchers looking for a diver who had not surfaced have recovered a body, at a Hawke's Bay beach.
Police were called about 7.35pm after the diver did not surface at Aramoana Beach in central Hawke's Bay.
Working with the Coastguard they began a search of the area.
The diver was found in the water about 8.15pm, but could not be revived.
No other details would be released immediately, police said in a statement.
