A grenade that sparked an emergency situation at Auckland Airport has been declared inert.
The Defence Force was called in after a suspicious package was found during routine scanning at a warehouse on the airport premises.
Police and Fire and Emergency were also at the scene.
Staff working at a nearby warehouse were evacuated and some roads were blocked off while they dealt with the incident.
But an airport spokesperson said no flights were affected and there was no danger to the public.
