Mount Maunganui closed until further notice after a person was found dead

Unexplained death in Taita, Lower Hutt early on Sunday 26th January 2020.  A Police cordon and crime scene invetsigation tent were in place Monday 27th January 2020.

Mount Maunganui has been closed to the public until further notice after a person was found dead this morning.

Police said the death was not being treated as suspicious and has been referred to the coroner.

In a statement Tauranga City Council said it appreciated the community's understanding and more updates will be provided once the maunga reopens.
