Police searching for a man who has been missing since Wednesday evening have found a body.
A dinghy capsized near the mouth of the river which is in Hawke's Bay and one of the two people on board did not make it to shore.
Police search and rescue, surf life saving teams and two helicopters were involved in the search.
Today, the body of a man has been recovered, upstream from where he was last seen, police said in a statement.
While formal identification was yet to take place, it was believed to be the man who went overboard on Wednesday.
A rāhui remains in place at the river.
