Police are appealing for information after a woman was assaulted near a Christchurch park on Saturday night.
The attack occurred near the alleyway to Sugden Street at Barrington Park, in the suburb of Spreydon at about 9pm.
Detective Senior Sergeant Damon Wells said police are seeking assistance from residents and anyone who was in the area at the time who noticed anything suspicious.
He said the assault had been a traumatic ordeal for the woman, who was receiving support from family and friends.
"We understand the community will be on high alert, Police want to reassure them we are working hard to find the person responsible," Detective Senior Sergeant Damon Wells said.
