Critically-injured man dies in Takanini after reports of fighting

A man has died at a house in South Auckland where there were reports of disorder and fighting.

Police said they were called to a property on Airfield Road, Takanini at 12.20am after receiving the reports.

A 57-year-old man with critical injuries was found but died a short time later.

Police said they were now investigating to find out how he was injured.

However, initial inquiries indicated those involved in the incident were known to each other, police siad.

A scene guard was at the address, and police said nearby residents could expect to see a continued police presence in the area today.

Police said they are seeking help from the public over the incident, and would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the event around 12.20am.

They would also like anyone in the area with CCTV or dash cam footage to get in contact.
