A person who was critically injured in a car fire in Taranaki this morning has died in hospital.
Emergency services were alerted at 7.20am that a car was on fire on State Highway 3 (Mokau Road), between Mimi Road and Waiiti Road.
A person in the car sustained serious burns and was airlifted to Waikato Hospital but later died.
Police said at this stage, it was not clear how the car fire had started.
They are asking anyone who may have seen a white Nissan Navara travelling north on State Highway 3 between Bell Block and Mimi between about 6.30am and 7.20am today to contact them on 105 and quote police file number 221226/0900.
