Police say there have been no significant issues following a Mongrel Mob member's tangi in South Auckland today.

The New Zealand Herald is reporting the tangi is that of Mongrel Mob member Daniel Eliu.

Eliu was killed on the grounds of Papatoetoe Seventh Day Adventist Community Church on 17 December.

He was 46.

In a statement, Counties Manukau acting District Commander Inspector Matthew Srhoj said police had been monitoring a large number of gang members attending the tangi, but were "pleased with their behaviour overall".

"Several driving infringements will be followed up in the coming days but there are no reports of significant or serious incidents in relation to the gathering," Srhoj said.

Police would maintain a strong presence in the coming hours, he said.

Police thanked community members for their patience as a large procession passed through the district.

Any illegal activity would be investigated and followed up on, an earlier police statement said.

"Police will maintain a visible presence on the roads and urge all those travelling on our roads to not act in a way that puts other road users at risk.

"If you are concerned about your safety in regards to the group, or witness illegal behaviour happening now, please call 111 immediately."

Members of the public could also report, or send through footage of unlawful activity, online on 105.police.govt.nz.

People could also call police on 105, or report anonymously via Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111.
