Four people seriously injured in Rotorua crash

Emergency services are responding to a crash on State Highway 30 that has left four people seriously injured.

Police received reports of the crash in the Tikitere area about 4.45pm and motorists are advised to expect delays.

Waka Kotahi said lanes were blocked on SH30 between Curtis Road and Lake Okataina Road and a detour was likely.

The incident is the latest in a number of serious crashes around the country over the past two days.

Three injured in Karapiro crash

Emergency services responded to a crash at the intersection of State Highway 1 and State Highway 29 near Karapiro this afternoon after police received reports of a crash about 3.35pm.

In a statement, police said one person sustained serious injuries in the crash while two others were left with moderate injuries.

The scene of the crash was being cleared.

Major South Island pass closed today

This afternoon police warned motorists to avoid travelling over Arthur's Pass, State Highway 73, between Christchurch and the West Coast, following an incident involving a truck and a trailer on the highway.

The road was expected be closed for several hours while the blockage was cleared.

Critically injured Christchurch motorist remains in intensive care

A person taken to Christchurch Hospital with critical injuries after a collision between a motorbike and a vehicle last night remains in intensive care.

Police said the crash in the suburb of Upper Riccarton, near the intersection of Riccarton Road and Hansons Lane, happened about 9.15pm yesterday.

Also in Christchurch yesterday, the driver of a car involved in a crash with another vehicle on Yaldhurst Road, in the suburb of Russley, was taken to hospital in a serious condition.
