An infant has died in what police are calling a "tragic accident" near Whanganui.
While police did not give further details, earlier media reports said the child had fallen into a septic tank on a farm.
Police confirmed they attended an incident on a private property in Westmere, near Whanganui, at about 3.30pm.
St Johns said it responded with two ambulances and a helicopter to a property on Watt Livingstone Rd.
