Two people have died in separate crashes in Northland tonight.
One person died following a two-car crash in Ruakākā, Northland.
Police were called to the crash on One Tree Point Road at 5.40pm.
Another person suffered moderate injuries in the accident.
Police said the road is expected to remain closed for some time while the Serious Crash Unit examines the scene and drivers should avoid the area.
A second person was killed in a separate two-vehicle crash on Pipiwai Road, Matarau near Kamo, which police were called to about 8pm.
That road is also closed, with a diversion in place.
