The number of people police are yet to make contact with following Cyclone Gabrielle now sits at four.

This number has fallen from thousands who were originally unable to be contacted in the days following the large weather event that cut-off communities.

In the 24 hours to 7pm on Sunday, police said officers in Eastern District conducted 502 prevention activities.

These included reassurance patrols and engaging with storm-hit areas.

During that time, police also received 492 calls, including 10 reports of burglaries, four stolen cars and 54 family harm incidents.

As a result, 25 have been arrested - 13 in Hawke's Bay and 12 in Tai Rāwhiti.

Crimes included serious assault, destruction of property, disorder and theft.

Police said it would be able to provide more information about the four people yet to be contacted later today.
