Two people have been arrested and schools have come out of lockdown in Feilding after police responded to an incident on Monday morning.
Police said they had been searching for occupants of a suspected stolen vehicle, which was first spotted on Colyton Road about 11am.
The occupants were signalled to pull over, however, they drove away, police said.
Police did not pursue the vehicle but continued to observe it and later found it around Timona Park.
Two people were arrested and officers had been working to find any other occupants of the vehicle, police said.
As a precaution members of the armed offenders squad attended and the nearest schools as well as the other education facilities were put into lockdown, including Feilding Intermediate, Feilding Playcentre, Tui Early Learning and Lytton Street School, police said.
Just before 1pm, Feilding Intermediate said on its Facebook page it was out of lockdown.
