Waitematā Police are investigating a report of a serious assault on a teenage girl earlier this week.
Waitematā West CIB Detective Senior Sergeant Megan Goldie said a man entered a property on Parma Place in Henderson on Wednesday morning, startling one of the occupants.
He then followed the victim from the property to a reserve area off Chistlehurst Street where she was assaulted.
Goldie said officers were canvassing the area and searching through CCTV footage.
"Police ask anyone in the community who witnessed suspicious activity around the Parma Place, Chistlehurst Street, Newham place and Bloom Crescent areas on Wednesday morning to get in contact with us."
Police recognised the incident was unsettling for the community, and that the investigation team was working on establishing the circumstances and identifying the offender, she said.
