A person has been arrested after a firearms incident in a West Auckland suburb on Saturday night.
Police said a person was reported to have been shot outside a residential address on Triangle Road, Massey, at 10.30pm.
They were taken to Auckland Hospital in critical condition but are now stable after surgery.
A 26-year-old man has been charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
He is due to appear in Waitakere District Court on 24 April.
Police believed this was an isolated incident between parties known to each other.
They said they would have a continued presence in the Triangle Road area while they investigated and cordons would be in place around the scene.
They did not believe there was any ongoing risk to the community
