Tauranga Police are asking the public for information after a man's body was found Tuesday in Mount Maunganui.
At 7.45am Tuesday, police were notified that a body had been found by a member of the public near the Whareroa boat ramp.
The man has since been identified as Eugene Nicholas, 37, of Tauranga.
Police are investigating the circumstances that led to his death, which is currently being treated as unexplained.
Anyone who was in the area at the time or has information that can assist police in their enquiries is asked to come forward.
Police would also like to hear from anyone who saw or spoke with Nicholas in the week leading up to 16 May.
