A person has been rescued from a fire in a two-storey home on Auckland's North Shore.

The house in Albany caught fire early this morning, trapping one person inside.

Three fire crews arrived at the scene in Totara Vale just before 6am and quickly rescued the person who was now in hospital.

Emergency services said the blaze was well-involved by the time they arrived, but it has since been contained.

Two crews were still on the scene damping down hot spots while investigators determine the cause.
