Two people have been arrested in Hawke's Bay in relation to firearm possessions, and a third charged over alleged illegal hunting.
After being called to a family harm incident in Flaxmere on Wednesday, police carried out a search warrant and seized six homemade firearms at the same property.
A 23-year-old man was charged with six counts of illegal possession of a firearm and assault with a weapon. He was due to reappear in Hastings District Court on 26 June.
In a separate search on Thursday, police seized two firearms and a large amount of ammunition from an address in Havelock North.
A 20-year-old man was arrested, facing multiple firearm-related charges. He was due to reappear in Hastings District Court on Friday.
And in the rural Hawke's Bay community of Patoka, a 30-year-old has been arrested after reports of unlawful hunting.
The report to police was made after a deer carcass was seen at a Seaview Road property, and the man was allegedly seen trespassing, police said.
A rifle and ammunition were seized from his address.
He was due to appear in Napier District Court on 21 June, facing charges of unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition and unlawful hunting.
Firearms incident in Taupō
Meanwhile, police are looking for witnesses after a gun was fired in a Four Square car park in Taupō.
Police said they received a report on the incident on Rifle Range Road on Thursday about 8pm.
Their initial inquiries established a verbal altercation took place in the car park, which resulted in one person shooting at another.
Police said it appeared to be an isolated incident, and they were following a number of strong lines of inquiry.
