An oil spill estimated to be hundreds of litres in size has caused traffic to be blocked in a main Invercargill road.
Fire and Emergency New Zealand (FENZ) were called to the spill by the Elles Rd and Tweed St roundabout at 9.35am, a spokeswoman said.
The spill, which also extended down Elles Rd, was estimated to amount to a couple of hundred litres.
"It's quite a decent spillage."
One fire crew was in attendance and was working with police to partially close the roundabout so the oil could be hosed off.
Council was also expected on the scene.
The cause of the spill was unknown.
A police spokesperson said police were made aware of the spill at about 9.40am, and there were issues affecting traffic at the roundabout.
