A man is in a critical condition following an assault in Whanganui in the early hours of the morning.
Now, police are asking for the public's help in its investigation.
In a statement, police said the serious assault took place on the corner of St Hill Street and Ridgeway Street in Whanganui.
The injured man was located around 2.15am by police and taken to hospital.
"Police are working to determine the circumstances of the incident.
"As part of our investigation, we are asking for information from the public."
Information could be given by calling police on 105 or online, referencing file number 230618/3302.
People could also provide information anonymously via Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111.
