Queen Street shooting: Arrest made, car sought in connection to case

A man has been arrested in connection to a fatal shooting on Auckland's Queen Street on 3 August but police are still looking for Dariush Talagi.

One of the two people shot during a fight in central Auckland died the next day in hospital.

A 32-year-old man has been charged with unlawful possession of ammunition and is due appear in the Manukau District Court on 22 August.

Detective Senior Sergeant Craig Bolton said police had conducted a series of search warrants.

"The investigation team terminated search warrants at four properties in Māngere, Manurewa, Manukau and Papakura."

Police were still looking for Dariush Talagi, who was wanted to arrest for murder and wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

"Talagi should be considered dangerous and we advise the public to not approach him, but instead call police on 111 straight away," Bolton said.

"Our investigation team remains committed to locating Talagi and holding him to account for his actions that night on Queen Street."

Bolton said the investigation team was working to locate the 24-year-old.

"It is only a matter of time, and I continue to remind anyone who is assisting Talagi that being an accessory after the fact is a criminal offence."

He asked anyone who may have seen a car linked to the investigation, likely in the Northland region in a rural area, to contact police.

The car is a 2006 black BMW X-6 with the registration KLU568.

"We need to hear from anyone who knows where this vehicle might be, and who the occupants seen travelling in this vehicle are."

Bolton said anyone with additional information to assist the investigation, or information on the vehicle of interest should contact police on 105 quoting the file number 230804/3399.
