John Turkington Forestry has confirmed a person died at its Palmerston North branch after being hit by a vehicle.
Emergency services attended the scene on Wednesday afternoon.
The person died at the scene.
WorkSafe and the serious crash unit have been advised.
Company founder John Turkington said in a statement he was focusing on supporting the family and colleagues of the person involved in the tragedy.
He said the company was also supporting police and WorkSafe with their investigations.
He did not wish to make any further comment.
The death was the second in two days within a workplace. Another person was killed on a work site in Balclutha in south Otago on Tuesday.
