A body has been discovered on the shore of Christchurch's coastal Redcliffs suburb this morning.
A member of the public found the body at about 8.35am, police said in a statement.
It was believed to have been in the water for some time.
Staff were now working to identify the person, notify their next of kin and work out the circumstances of their death, police said.
