Police say they are continuing their investigations into the death of a man following an incident at the Auckland Custody Unit earlier this month.

Acting Superintendent Sunny Patel said the man was Mitchell Lam, 24, who had been charged in relation to an incident at a dairy in New Windsor on 5 October.

Lam was charged with two counts of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and resisting police.

The matter will come before the Auckland District Court again next month.

Patel said police were making investigations into the man's death on behalf of the coroner.
