The clubrooms of a famous Auckland rugby league club have been destroyed by a fire.

Four fire trucks and a ladder truck were called to the Marist Saints Rugby League clubrooms in Mt Albert at 3.30am.

Police are treating the fire as unexplained.

An investigator was at the scene.

Auckland Rugby League said the fire was devastating for the entire rugby league community.

In a social media post it said ARL was gutted by what had occurred at Marist Saints overnight.

"They have a long history and this is devastating for our entire rugby league community."

It was helping Fire and Emergency NZ with the investigation, it said.

"Our aroha go out to the Marist Saints community as we support the club through this tough time."

There were no injuries, police said.
