A water drinking pipe which burst on Wellington's Lambton Quay on Friday afternoon has been repaired.

Water shut off to buildings numbered from 150 to 184, while repairs were underway, has now been restored.

Wellington Water said it was investigating if the leak on the central city street was linked the one on the same stretch of pavement a few weeks ago.

Meanwhile, the provider said about 800 jobs logged in their system had been affected by an error, where some customers were being incorrectly notified that repair jobs were complete or cancelled.

Wellington Water said the issue had now been resolved and jobs were showing correctly in their system again.
