The Hawke's Bay Expressway will be closed northbound until Friday evening, after a truck hit the barrier.
Police were alerted just after 9am, and there were no injuries reported.
In a post on X, Waka Kotahi said the road, which forms part of State Highway 2, was closed due to a spill.

Due to a spill, the northbound lanes for SH2 are currently CLOSED between Meeanee Rd to Taradale Rd. Road users are advised to follow directions of emergency services on site or delay their journey. ^JP pic.twitter.com/A8KzgEmjVa
Drivers should avoid the area between the Taradale roundabout on the expressway and the Meeanee on-ramp.
