A person has died after a single-car crash in Auckland.
Police said the accident happened around 8.45pm on Sunday on State Highway 16, near Stanley Street in the CBD..
"One person received critical injuries and died at the scene," they said in a statement on Monday morning.
An investigation was under way.
Ministry of Transport figures showed there had been 88 deaths on the roads so far this year, about on par with the past few years. Most were men, and about half were drivers.
