One person has died after being hit by a vehicle in a car park in Taupō's town centre.
Police said the crash occurred on Ruapehu Street at 2.45pm on Wednesday.
Police say two other people, along with the driver of the vehicle, were taken to hospital with minor to moderate injuries.
The pedestrian died at the scene.
"Police are making inquires to notify next of kin," a statement said.
"The area was cordoned while the Serious Crash Unit examined the scene and has now re-opened."
