Australian musician, writer, actor and comedian Tim Minchin will visit New Zealand later this year as part of his first non-fiction book tour.
Minchin will appear at Auckland's Kiri Te Kanawa Theatre on 16 October for an "in conversation" session about his book, You Don't Have to Have a Dream.
The guest interviewers are yet to be announced, but Minchin promises to share "thoughts and advice on life, art, success, kindness, love and thriving in a meaningless universe".
"Although I'm a bit nervous to be sitting on a stage without a piano to sugar the pill of my opinions with, I'm really excited to dig deeper into some of the ideas I explore in this book," he said in a statement.
"And, knowing the calibre of my interlocutors and my audiences, I'm sure the chat will push out beyond just those."
Minchin is one of Australia's most successful creative artists. He has composed music and lyrics for Matilda the Musical and Groundhog Day. More recently, he composed the title track for the new Netflix series, Eric.
Tickets to the live show go on sale at 10am on 18 June.
