A Mobile Planet employee has been suspended after reportedly trying to send himself a customer's nude photos.
In a video posted to TikTok on Wednesday, a male employee at the Mobile Planet kiosk in Auckland's Sylvia Park mall is accused of trying to AirDrop himself the photos.
TikTok user Krisy Erin said that her friend had taken her phone to the Mobile Planet stall to have her camera fixed.
But, when she was given it back, there was a notification on her phone saying 'AirDrop failed', and the link to a nude photo in her camera roll.
Erin said the photo had been taken by her friend to send to her boyfriend years ago - meaning the employee would have had to search through her camera roll to find the picture.
"This is such an invasion of privacy and absolutely unethical behaviour," Erin said in the video.
When confronted by Erin and her friend, the employee's manager said his colleague had been going into the photo gallery to see if the camera was working, when he accidentally "swiped up".
In a dramatic twist, the accused Mobile Planet employee then fell to the ground, having reportedly fainted.
Erin and her friend went to the customer service desk to lodge a complaint, the video says.
When approached by Stuff for comment, the Mobile Planet management team said they took "immediate action" when informed about the incident.
The man in question was a casual employee, whose shifts had been cancelled effective immediately pending the results of an internal investigation, they said.
The customer had been contacted by management to offer the team's "sincerest apologies and support during this time".
"We understand the gravity of the situation and are committed to upholding our responsibility to all parties involved."
The incident had been referred to the police, who were investigating, they said.
"We are cooperating fully with the authorities and are dedicated to resolving this matter with the utmost seriousness and sensitivity."
While a police spokesperson said they weren't immediately aware of the incident, they "strongly encouraged" those involved to contact police as soon as possible.
